Sex Education Theme Park in Korea
There's a persistent prejudice against the Japanese, the Koreans and other Asians -- that they're prudish and repressed. But go to "Love Land" on Cheju Island in South Korea and you'll start to question that cliché.
Jeju Loveland (also known as Love Land) is an outdoor sculpture park which opened in 2004 on Cheju Island in South Korea. The park is focused on a theme of sex, running sex education films, and featuring 140 sculptures representing humans in various sexual positions. It also has other elements such as large phallus statues, stone labia, and hands-on exhibits such as a "masturbation-cycle." The park's website describes the location as, "a place where sexually-oriented art and eroticism meet."

After the Korean War, the island became a popular honeymoon destination for Korean couples, due to the island's warm climate. Many of the couples had wed because of arranged marriages, and the island also became known for being a center of sex education. According to an article in Spiegel magazine, in the late 1980s journalist and travel writer Simon Winchester reported that some hotel employees on the island performed as "professional icebreakers." In the evenings, the hotel would offer an entertainment program featuring erotic elements, to help newlyweds relax.
In 2002, graduates of Seoul's Hongik University began creating sculptures for the park, which opened on November 16, 2004. Encompassing an area the size of "two soccer fields", all of the sculptures can be viewed in approximately one hour, and there is an additional monthly rotating exhibit featuring works by different Korean artists.
Visitors are required to be at least 18 years old, and a separate play area is available for minors while adults visit. info source:Wikipedia
2012 Honda CR-Z Bue
Honda CR-Z
All new for 2011 when it was named the "Most-Efficient Two Seater" by the EPA, the 2012 Honda CR-Z debuts with one available feature change - a new black seat fabric becomes an option on cars with the Crystal Black Pearl exterior color, replacing the standard silver mesh sport seats. The 2012 CR-Z starts at $19,545, plus a destination and handling charge of $770.
The Honda CR-Z is available in two models - the well-equipped CR-Z and the feature-rich CR-Z EX. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment and a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is available. Standard features on the CR-Z include Vehicle Stability Assist, an AM/FM/CD/USB audio system with six speakers, automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, remote entry, cruise control, and more.
The Honda CR-Z EX adds High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlights with Auto-On/Off, fog lights, a 360-Watt AM/FM/CD Premium Audio System with seven speakers including subwoofer, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more. The CR-Z EX is available with the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice recognition.
Technological Sophistication Inside and Out
The exterior's "one-motion" wedge form begins at its low-slung hood to form a broad forward stance. A side profile with a deeply inset beltline adds a dynamic element, while the short wheelbase and large, wide front grille accent the vehicle's athletic look. Exterior colors include Crystal Black Pearl, Milano Red Pearl, North Shore Blue Metallic (exclusive to CR-Z), Premium White Pearl and Storm Silver Metallic.
A high-tech appearance and intuitive controls define the interior. Instrument panel meters illuminate with a three-dimensional blue color theme resulting in a multi-layered appearance. Set against textured black materials and aluminum-style trim accents, the upper portion of the dashboard extends toward the driver to provide a wraparound cockpit environment. Premium sport-oriented seats are designed to provide firm lateral support along with everyday driving comfort. A mid-ship console behind the front seats optimizes cargo space, and a hard-shell separator can be closed to create additional hidden storage.
The Honda CR-Z features a six-speaker, 160-watt AM/FM/CD audio system with an auxiliary input jack for connection to a portable audio player, and all models include a USB audio interface for connecting an iPod or other compatible audio device. Other audio features include speed-sensitive volume control and CD/MP3 text readout. The radio data system shows supplemental programming information from participating radio stations while also offering search-by-genre capability (not available on the CR-Z EX with navigation).
The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ is available on the CR-Z EX model and features a 6.5-inch display. The navigation system database includes more than 7-million points of interest and integrates the audio system. The voice recognition feature is capable of inputting numbers, street names and cities, in addition to more than 600 commands. Data storage is via a single DVD that contains information for the entire United States.
Performance and Efficiency
The Honda CR-Z hybrid powertrain is a unique variation of Honda's original IMA technology , which originally debuted on the 2000 Honda Insight, the first hybrid vehicle available for sale in North America. The system utilizes a four-cylinder, 16-valve, single-overhead cam engine with "intelligent" Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (i-VTEC) that receives additional power from the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system's DC brushless electric motor. The system delivers a combined peak output of 122 horsepower at 6000 RPM and 128 lb-ft. of torque at 1000 to 1750 RPM (123 lb-ft. at 1000 to 2000 on CVT-equipped models).
The 10-kilowatt electric motor assists in acceleration and also acts as a generator during braking or coasting to capture kinetic energy that recharges the 100-volt IMA nickel-metal hydride battery pack. The gasoline engine can automatically turn off during vehicle stops to improve efficiency. When starting on steep inclines from a stop with the manual transmission, hill start assist temporarily prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards during the moment between releasing the brake, depressing the throttle and releasing the clutch.
EPA-estimated fuel economy is 35/39/37 city/highway/combined mpg on CVT-equipped models and 31/37/34 city/highway/combined mpg on manual models. The CR-Z is rated as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) in states that adhere to California Air Resource Board (CARB) ZEV standards (EPA Tier 2, Bin 2 in all states).
Three-Mode Drive System
Activated via three backlit buttons to the left of the steering wheel, the three-mode drive system allows the driver to select between individual modes of performance for Sport, Normal and Economy driving styles:
Sport mode enhances engine throttle responsiveness, electric power steering effort and the electric motor power assist.
Normal mode standardizes steering, engine response, motor assist and air conditioning settings.
Econ mode can increase the potential for enhanced fuel efficiency by optimizing throttle angle for smooth acceleration, lower engine rpm and limiting power and torque by approximately 4 percent (except at wide-open throttle). It can also reduce the air conditioning's overall load on the engine and modify the cruise control to operate more efficiently.
Safety by Design
The Honda CR-Z demonstrates a commitment to safety in its design and construction. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure helps protect vehicle occupants in a frontal collision. Additional safety technologies include: standard dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; standard front-side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS); side-curtain airbags, active head restraints; an anti-lock braking system (ABS); a tire pressure monitoring system; and a pedestrian injury mitigation design in the front of the vehicle.
Sport-Tuned Chassis
The front MacPherson strut and rear H-shaped torsion beam suspension are tuned to provide a sporty driving experience. All models are equipped with 16x6-inch aluminum wheels with 195/55R16 86V tires, while accessory 17x7 alloy wheels with 205/45R17 84V tires are available. The standard anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) uses ventilated front discs and solid rear discs. The low vehicle height and placement of the battery and other hybrid components beneath the rear cargo area further contribute to a low center of gravity and responsive, sporty handling. Electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering enhances steering performance and improves efficiency.
VOLVO ENTERS HYBRID S60 IN SWEDEN’S RACING ELITE LEAGUE
Volvo has released the first picture of the S60-like car that it will field in Sweden’s new TTA Racing Elite League. The Swedish manufacturer will enter four cars into the series. They will be divided into two teams: the first is called Volvo Polestar Racing, and the second is Volvo Polestar Performance.
The track-bound car might look like an S60, but it goes without saying that precious few parts are interchangeable between the two models. The race car’s body is made entirely out of carbon fiber, and it sits on 18″ rims held on by a center nut.
The car is finished in a shade of blue that is typically associated with Polestar, the company’s racing arm, but the car will be painted in a team-specific color scheme before the season starts.
Power comes from a mid-mounted V6 engine that sends 420 ponies to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox that is controlled by shift paddles mounted behind the steering wheel. Interestingly enough, the V6 is linked to a Kinetic Energy Recovery hybrid system.
The Racing Elite Series season is scheduled to start on May 12th, 2012, in Karlskoga, Sweden. This deadline gives Volvo about a month and a half to put the finishing touches on the S60s.
“Polestar and TTA are conducting the final tests at the same time as we are working on the hybrid system, producing the carbon fibre body shells and calibrating the aerodynamics for all cars in our wind tunnel,” said Derek Crabb, Director of Volvo Motorsport.
When the S60s line up at the starting grid, they will go head to head against stiff competition from BMW and Citroën.

2013 HYUNDAI VELOSTER TURBO PRICED FROM $21,500?
Though it isn’t due out until this summer, much is known about the Veloster Turbo: it will pack a 201 horsepower turbo four, get 38 mpg on the highway and do battle with the likes of the Honda Civic Si. Pricing, however, has been something of a mystery, but thanks to a new report we now we have a good idea of what to expect on that front.
During a test drive of the Genesis Coupe, a Hyundai official let slip toInside Line that the Veloster Turbo will start at $21,500. Tack on Hyundai’s standard destination and handling fee of $760, and a no-options Veloster Turbo would go from $22,260.
That price compares with the base 2012 Veloster’s $18,060 MSRP and the Honda Civic Si sedan’s $23,175 price of entry. While we wouldn’t be surprised if the final price changes slightly from what the Hyundai official suggested before the Veloster Turbo’s on-sale date, that number does provide a reasonable idea of what to expect.
What we know so far
Like the standard car, the Veloster Turbo is powered by a 1.6L GDI four-cylinder engine, but the addition of forced induction boosts horsepower to 201 and torque to 195 lb-ft. In comparison, the standard Veloster produces 138 horsepower and 123 lb-ft of torque.
Power for the Veloster Turbo is routed to the front wheels through either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The base Veloster’s EcoShift DCT gearbox is not on offer as it simply can’t cope with the added torque of the turbocharged engine.
Hyundai is keeping quiet on the Veloster’s official performance figures, but the Korean automaker says the manual version of the car will achieve 27mpg in the city and a segment-leading 38mpg on the highway.
Styling tweaks
Although the overall styling of the standard Veloster remains, Hyundai added a few tweaks to make the Veloster Turbo stand out from the crowd. Up front that means a new hexagonal front grille, with unique side sills running the length of the car. At the rear the Veloster Turbo gains a new bumper with prominent diffuser vents.
A set of unique 18-inch wheels is also part of the Veloster Turbo package, and buyers can also opt for Hyundai’s first-ever Matte Gray paint.
Inside the Veloster Turbo gets standard leather seats — with seat heaters — with the word ‘Turbo’ stitched into the seatbacks. The Turbo model also gains two TFT screens located between the speedometer and tachometer and a “sport bike” inspired center stack.

2012 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
Bentley recently gave its Continental Flying Spur a modest exterior refresh for the current generation, with changes to the front and rear of this large ultra-luxury sedan. The automaker also extended the 600-horsepower 'Speed' treatment to the four-door car, after first debuting the high-performance edition for the GT coupe.
The Flying Spur was introduced for the 2006 model year. A direct result of Bentley's new owners, the Volkswagen Auto Group, the sedan shares its basic underpinnings and some mechanical bits with VW's late Phaeton. As one would expect of a Bentley, it boasts a capacious interior trimmed in the some of the softest leather and highest quality wood imaginable.
The latest Flying Spur features a more upright grille and bolder lower air intake, while the new rear bumper delivers a more aggressive and sleek appearance.
Bentley also decided to update the Flying Spur's electronic stability program and offer optional carbon ceramic brakes should owners try and test that 195 mph top speed. An optional three-spoke steering wheel along with improved Bluetooth capability round out the changes.
The standard Spur's engine offers 552 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 479 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 rpm. It transfers power to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The EPA rates the Spur's fuel economy at 10 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.
The aluminum-intensive suspension of the Flying Spur features revised spring and dampers and a new bespoke 19-inch Pirelli UHP tire for outstanding levels of ride quality, comfort and refinement.
The double-glazed windows, a standard feature since launch, now feature a sophisticated acoustic laminate inner layer for all side and rear windows. In addition, new tri-laminate acoustic underbody trays and wheel arch liners absorb road noise.
Standard and Optional Features
Standard equipment on the Spur includes twin HID headlights with washer jets, 19-inch alloy wheels, a tire pressure monitoring system, cruise control, keyless entry and ignition, rain-sensing windshield wipers and a choice of 16 colors. On the inside, one has a choice of 17 colors for the leather-appointed interior and matching carpets and seatbelts, there are steering-column mounted shift paddles, a sunroof with electronic sunshade, a DVD navigation system, Sirius satellite radio, a six-CD changer in the glove compartment and voice dialing through the integrated Bluetooth system. The front seats feature lumbar massage, memory and heat settings. The rear seat's outer occupants enjoy lumbar massage and heating settings as well. The trunk is power opening and closing.
Options include a choice of three 19-inch wheel styles and a 20-inch wheel and tire package, and the sunroof can be had with a solar panel to power ventilation fans to maintain interior temperature when parked. Inside, three veneers are available in addition to the standard one, a choice of leather trims for the two steering wheels, and a full-length center console turns the car into a four-seater but adds electrically adjustable rear seats.
Convenience options include a cordless privacy handset with keypad in center console, a rear telephone system, and a rear-view camera to aid in parking.
The new Flying Spur can now be specified with a sophisticated follow-to-stop, radar-based Adaptive Cruise Control system, which monitors traffic ahead and manages the throttle and brakes to maintain a pre-set time gap, up to a driver selected set speed.
As a further option, the new Naim for Bentley audio system features an 1100-watt amplifier, the most powerful unit offered in a production car, and 15 custom-built Naim speakers, including dual Naim sub-woofers.
Additions to the latest Flying Spur palette include two new hide colors (Linen and Imperial Blue) as well as three new standard exterior paint colors (Havana, White Sand and Onyx). Four unique duo-tone paint combinations (Havana, Dark Sapphire, Onyx and Midnight Emerald) are available for the first time on the Continental family.
Key Competitors
Competition to the Continental Flying Spur comes from the Rolls-Royce Ghost, which offers an imperial presence and a sumptuous cabin, the less-prestigious but absurdly powerful Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG and the Aston Martin Rapide, which is the least spacious but the most sleekly styled of the group.

MU
I’ve taken delivery of the 2012 Bentley Continental GT down the block from Manhattan’s famous Hogs ‘n’ Heifers saloon, where hundreds of bras dangle behind the bar and a guy built like an upright piano warns me, after my pals and I take turns at the loo, that he’ll bend us into pretzels if we snap any pics inside the bar.
“No worries, brother,” I say, but nothing assuages him until Kristy’s Nikon is in its case instead of hanging around her neck.
It’s an ironic slice of life – my $189,000 test car, parked less than 20 feet from me in this once-skeevy-but-now-tony section of town, is a source of constant attention, photo-snapping and red carpet treatment from delivery people, beat cops, fashionistas and swells—and its occupants are growled at like bums.
Location is everything, though, and climbing behind the wheel of the plush, magnificent, hand-built new GT after leaving the bar means my location is Here, wherever I go. My week’s test is right up there with the touch of a lover, the first taste of a chocolate cake at a fine restaurant, or leaving the house without a coat for the first time in months as spring arrives. Granted, those things don’t cost as much as a brand new house in some parts of the country, but you get the idea.
WHAT’S NEW
The 2012 GT has lost 165 pounds and features a tweaked front and rear lighting design. New slim-line “cobra” front seats coddle riders while bathing their noses in olfactory goodness. Rear passengers get more leg room, although a 6-foot friend had to be practically tamped in like a cannon ball back there. The cabin’s trimmed with soft-touch leathers, a full range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals and deep-pile carpets – all hand-crafted. Everywhere you look, listen, feel and smell uplifts you from the mundane and into the sublime.
THE POWER
The GT’s V-12, twin-turbocharged all-wheel-drive engine is explosive, with 567 snorting, galloping horses under its hood, and “Quick Shift technology” cuts shift time by 50%. The process is so seamlessly quiet that it’s as though the car has just one speed; “stop” and “WOAH.”
While you won’t mistake the GT for an R-8 or similar, velocity and stability are there when you need them and the car also works as an all-around vehicle, suitable for grocery runs or spirited back-road touring. Shift paddles allow you to grab more power as necessary. Four camshafts and 48 valves allow the engine to breathe effortlessly and help generate torque, and the car’s capable of running on gasoline, the controversial E85 bioethanol, or any mix of the two – all from a single tank.
An all-new, high-output 8-cylinder engine will be available to order later this year, Bentley honchos say.
THE GADGETS
10 years ago, my first test Bentley Arnage T came with a sound system, if you could call it that, seemingly from the Swing era. Bentley has, happily, massively upped their game since then. An 8-inch screen displays the GT’s audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings. The nav system, which uses both an in-car hard-disc drive and a DVD player to access route data, employs “dynamic” navigation to guide you around areas of heavy traffic, and finds destinations using geo-tagged photos from an SD memory card.
Your infotainment system offers a combination of touchscreen controls and classic knurled rotary switches. An eight-speaker sound system is offered as standard, employing the latest “Balanced Mode Radiator” technology, and tunes can be be played and controlled from your iPod® as well as from a six-disc CD changer, SD card reader or directly from the car’s hard-disc drive, which can store up to 15GB of music.
THE DRIVE
The week’s test took me over hill, dale, streets and highways, under windex-blue skies and the black of night. This was not a long-distance drive, nor did I head for Limerock or Poconos Raceway as I’ve done with other Bentleys. It was a week of going where I needed to go over rough roads and smooth, and the car did what a luxury car is supposed to do. It pleased me, delighted me, relaxed me and reminded me, in this world of increasing plastic, chipboard and stuff that falls apart soon after purchase, that some things are still hand-built with the greatest of care and the finest of materials, and are worth pursuing.
Audi still planning to develop a new RS4
Audi RS4 |
The current Audi A4 generation, launched three years ago will benefit from a performance version, namely the RS4, expected to debut next year or early 2013. According to the latest rumors, we had the opportunity to worry as there were some signs that Audi won’t develop anymore a performance version of the A4 sedan.
The plans turned 180 degrees and it seems that the German manufacturer will unveil in the coming years a successor of the current Audi RS4. Moreover, the V8 TFSI engine currently found under the bonnet of the today’s RS4 will get some modifications in order to provide more power stages.
The modified V8 will lately be introduced on the RS6 and RS7 bigger brothers. As we don’t know exactly what will be the horsepower output of the V8 engine that will be found under the bonnet of the new RS6 or RS7, we can approximate how many horses the new Audi RS4 will provide. According to the latest rumors, we can expect to see an improved V8 engine able to develop around 500 horses for the next-generation Audi RS4.
